It was the 1st December and time to head northwards into France and on to Paris before home to the UK. As soon as we started on our way we knew it was going to be a very windy journey. We took it steady and soon we were crossing into France. We arrived at our stopover site in Salses Le Chateau with no problem. The reception was closed but a security man let us on site and told us the owner was not there but would be back at 6pm.
The site was rather run down and with the wind howling, freezing temperature and it was soon dark, we just got cozy in the caravan, had dinner with wine, watched a film and that was us till morning ππ After a night of very strong winds and the caravan swaying we finally found the owner to pay before we left. It wasn’t one of the best sites we had stayed at but it had clean toilets and electric hook up so we’re not complaining π¬π¬
On we went and it was still windy! We travelled steadily along and once we turned away from the coast and headed to Toulouse it eased off. Our stopover that night was in Septfonds and as we missed the turning we carried on and had a little tour around all the very small roads in the area, but we found the site and this time we had a warm welcome from the owner.

As there was only one other caravan on site she said to stay on the gravel roadway near the toilet & shower block. That made it so easy for leaving in the morning.
The next morning was a frosty one and -3 degrees Brrrrrrrrrrrr!!
It was like being on winter camp with the Scouts ππ It was a very natural woodland site with no set pitches. So cold but lovely. βοΈπβοΈ
The way out to the main road was easier than the night before. The journey was lovely with some spectacular views. We headed past Cahors and over the River Dordogne at Souillac. We even saw a few flakes of snow along the way. We arrived at Saint German les Belles at 2:30pm for our stopover and reception was closed. It wasn’t a problem as there was a notice that said “welcome to the site, please find a plot and settle in. Someone will be in the office at 5pm” So that is exactly what we did. The site overlooked a lake (frozen actually) and snow covered the ground. It all looked lovely. Cold! But lovely π
On the road again heading north after a lazy morning and breakfast. It wasn’t a long journey and the road was very good until the last mile or two on small farm roads, the caravan got very dirty! The weather was damp and dismal as we arrived on site but the was warm and friendly.
The site was Camping Le Cormier (www.loireholidays.biz) is a family run small site and after a quick tour with Mike the owner we settled in for a couple of nights. With free wifi and connection to satellite TV Andy was happy π
The following morning we were up late but just in time for the bread lady arriving on site. The van arrived peeping its horn. I asked for “quatre croissants et un pain” and I couldn’t believe how big the bread was! It was huge! The croissants were delicious π
We headed out for the afternoon to the nearby town of Loches. After sightseeing, taking lots of photos, buying postcards and stamps, browsing the shops we decided on a drink stop π An old French gentleman started talking to us and told us where we needed to be for the best views. He suddenly asked us if we had 10 mins to spare, walk quickly he told us ππ Off we went with him, he was chatting all along the way. We ended up in a lovely park with views to the Chateaux and church. We thanked him and he was on his way.

Once photos had been taken we headed for our drink. I was going to order 2 hot chocolates then I saw a sign for “vin chaud maison” So that’s what I had and it was very good.
We decided to stay for 3 nights as we were very settled. It was great as the site and owners were friendly. So we chilled for the next couple of days until we needed to leave.
On Thursday 7th December we head to Paris π
