We left Bonterra Park at 12:30 and we were sad to leave.
Our journey took us north and back on the N340 to Vilanova i la Geltru. It was a good drive with no wind at all and we arrived at Vilanova Park by 15:45. We were shown to our allocated pitch and although it was shaded by trees we were happy. Getting the caravan on the pitch was a bit of a struggle even with help from the neighbour π as the motor mover wasn’t working properly π Once we managed to get it in place we settled in and set up. We chatted to the couple on the next pitch who were heading south until May! They were from Guernsey. What a coincidence it was as their motor mover wasn’t working either ππ
The following day Andy had the mover in pieces and soon had it fixed ππ
The site has a great indoor pool and spa area. There is a gym, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and good sized pool with doors opening onto an outdoor area with sun loungers. It was great to be sat out there in swimsuits at the end of November ππ
The reason we needed to be near Barcelona this week was for Andy to fly to London for 2 days of meetings. I was happy to stay in sunny Spain. I did spend most of my time at the pool but also caught up with washing and cleaning too. I decided to explore on my bike, as I was flying downhill towards town thoughts were in my head of my uphill return journey to follow π¬π¬ I needed that jacuzzi again ππ
Saturday was market day in town so we decided to take the local bus. As we got to reception the bus was already leaving so we walked into town. (It was downhill remember ππ) We found the street market and then the market hall where the fish, meat, fruit and vegetable stalls were. I love walking around and watching all the fish and meat being prepared. Every bit of the animal is for sale and used. Heads and eyes glared at you from the stalls. We stood and watched some mini chicken roasts made, with chopped nuts, apricots and prunes inside. They looked good so we bought 2 for our dinner on Sunday. We managed to find the bus back home with no problem at all.
Our days on site were soon slotting into a very relaxed routine. Consisting of a very lazy morning and breakfast followed by a 2 or even 3 hour visit to the pool area. We then spent an hour or 2 sat in the sun with a glass of vino blanco and some free wifi at the bar/restaurant area followed by a spot of reading before dinner and a good film after.
Who needs any more? ππ
We did visit Barcelona one day. The bus leaves the site every 30mins and costs β¬10 return. We visited Park Guell and found it very interesting. It was all uphill to get there but well worth it. Walking down Las Ramblas was lovely and over to the port area as the sun set.
There are little red squirrels in the trees around the site and pairs of bright green parakeets flying around. It’s quite funny really, as each time we saw them Andy didn’t have his camera with him! ππ
Our last full day at Vilanova Park and also in Spain. At 8am the tree cutters and grounds men were already at work on the trees around our caravan. We headed to the swimming pool and spa, relaxing there until it closed at 2pm. We then had our usual afternoon drinks at the bar and outdoor pool area before going shopping to stock up on the lovely Spanish wine for home.
Vilanova Park has been a very enjoyable place to stay and with our ACSI card it was just β¬17 (Β£15:20) per night for 2 people, car and caravan pitch with water, electric, waste plus Astra 2 satellite connection!
On Friday 1st December we head north to France and The UK. π§βοΈβοΈπ¨
