Surgeres

We arrived at Camping de la Geres at 4:30pm and found reception closed. After ringing the bell with no result I phoned the site number, a very friendly gentleman gave me the code to get through the barrier and told me to choose my site and he would see me later. We chose and set up the caravan and awning. Later the gentleman appeared and I booked in at reception. He was smiling when he said “sorry but it is Sunday πŸ˜€”

The site is lovely and there are people working hard all around the site to make improvements. The pool is closed due to the time of year but looks a lovely area.

The following day we decided to take a look around the area on our bikes. The town is great and we even found Lidl 😍 The weather was gorgeous so we sat outside a bar with beers and just chilled.

On Tuesday it was market day. We walked into town looking at all the stalls. I would say the most interesting was the live eels!! By 12:30 they were packing away in time for lunch. We returned to the caravan for lunch in the sun, 26degrees and beautiful.

Andy had to leave for his flight back to the UK. He left at 3:45pm. Gone for 4 nights!!

I managed 4 nights alone in France, the only problem I had was having nobody to chat to. I adopted a little black cat that seems scared of humans. He slept in our awning each night but as soon as I opened the caravan door in a morning he would run away. I fed him outside the awning but he wouldn’t come in when I was around. So here was I chatting to a black French cat in English who definitely did not want to be friends with me but was happy to use my warm dry awning to sleep in and eat any food I offered. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
I went for bike rides, walks and watched the locals playing boules each day. I did okay and feel proud but I was also so happy on Andy’s return.
We had a lovely gift from Andy’s Mum, a T-shirt each for “ourtimetotravel”

Sunday morning and I must be honest, I had the best nights sleep of the week πŸ˜€πŸ˜
A late breakfast and chilled morning followed by a walk into town. As usual we looked in all the estate agents windows. Can we have one please? πŸ˜€ We called in at the boulangerie and bought gorgeous cakes for tea.

Back to the caravan and we soon decided to drive to the coast. We headed to La Fumee and Fouras and it was definitely a good choice.

The views were amazing and Andy had the camera clicking away. It was cloudy and a little windy but that didn’t bother us.

A walk along the beach taking photos and looking for shells then a stop for coffee and hot chocolate before we headed home.

A video call from Archie and Aiva made us smile πŸ˜€πŸ˜ They were so excited about going to a log cabin with a hot tub the next day.

We were lucky as on our last day it was dry and that makes it so much easier to pack up the awning and everything else. We left at 12:30pm after a leisurely breakfast and getting all sorted for our onward journey.

On Monday 23rd October we head to Pineuilh. 😍😍
