World Cruise 2025 – ON OUR WAY TO SAN FRANCISCO

We have two sea days before we reach San Francisco and we are expecting it to get chillier each day as we head north.
Life on sea days can be as active or chilled as you would like it to be. There are so many activities to choose from.
We are meeting lots of new people and they all have a story to tell. It makes meal times very interesting.

The evenings entertainment were both very talented singers.
Benjamin Moss had starred on The Voice UK and sang an array of songs from Tom Jones to Ed Sheeran. He is described as a Vocal Comedy Entertainer and with a few laughs along the way there’s something for everyone.
Liss Jones who entertains the audience with her strong talent in mimicking artistes from Shirley Bassey to Barbra Streisand put on an impressive show.

There’s lots of talk on ship about how long immigration will take as we arrive in San Francisco. We had an excursion booked (The hop on hop off bus tour) and it was an early morning meet in the theatre so we ordered breakfast to the cabin for 7:30am. Breakfast was just right for us in this situation.
The talk was right on ship and the immigration queues were long and slow.
Finally we were out and able to go on our way in the USA.

The bus was waiting as we left the port buildings and we were soon on our way. We decided to stay on the bus for the whole circuit and then choose what we wanted to see and explore in more detail. We had the bus tickets booked for 2 days, so plenty of time to explore the city. We passed through Fisherman’s Wharf, the financial district, China Town, Union Square and passed the City Hall. It then travelled through Golden Gate Park and over the Golden Gate Bridge. (A little chilly going over that!) After a view point stop for photos we were back on our way. Over to Lombard Street and back round to the 1st stop on the route.

Andy had looked into the driverless taxi scenario and was ready with the Waymo app to go ahead. It was amazing in every way! So easy to book and turned up on time. The ride was both smooth and surreal. We took the taxi from Pier 39 up to the top of Lombard Street and then walked down this winding spectacle.

A walk through China Town, with all the locals food shopping and smells from all the cooking around us was very interesting.

We hopped off the bus at City Hall. It’s a beautiful building and impressive area around it.

We made it back to Stop 1 to take the sunset tour. Upstairs on an open top bus and it was freezing. Thank goodness we had our waterproofs with us as they stopped the wind getting through.

Back to the ship for a night onboard with a gorgeous dinner followed by a theatre visit to see vocal entertainer, Benjamin Moss.

The second day in San Francisco and the sun was shining. Still chilly but happy with that.
We walked to find The Painted Ladies only to find trees had blocked any view of them from a distance!

Next we headed into the centre to find the Cable Car Station. We enjoyed the ride down to Fisherman’s Wharf.
There were sights to see everywhere we went. A Sheriffs car, Homeless people, The Symphony Hall, amazing sweet shops and even Alcatraz!

On our way once more with Hawaii in our sights.

Once the travel bug bites, there is no known antidote, and I know that I shall be happily infected to the end of my life.

Take care, Carol & Andy.
