World Cruise 2025 – THE ATLANTIC CROSSING

After a wonderful day in Madeira we were heading across the Atlantic to sunny Barbados. Following breakfast we walked around the promenade deck where the signs inform us that 3 laps of the ship is one mile.

Just looking at this view reminds me of our wedding day 9 years ago!

There was a display from all the staff teams out on deck by the Neptune pool.
Andy tried his hand at cake decorating but was far more interested when it came to ship maintenance! Napkin folding, bed making, craft sessions and many more were all there to have a go at.

The sun made an appearance and although the ship was rolling a little we were having a good crossing.

There are so many activities to suit everyone every day. We study the HORIZON and have an idea each day of what we are doing. (Not that it always goes to plan!) The beginners bridge is always attended and then deck quoits, Baggo, talks and just chilling on deck and writing my diary happen all the time.

The food on board is amazing. As are the staff that work in this area. They work so hard to serve everyone so well.

Our cabin stewardess has just told me she has a 6 year old at home. A little boy called Ellio. She FaceTimes him every day and her family are taking care of him back home. That must be so hard and she keeps smiling.

We have met lots of people on board and had lots of interesting conversations over meals, by the pool, even when cooling down in the sea!

The shows in the theatre have been very good. We have seen Peter Aberg, classed as a Multitasking Memory Man. He is a master juggler and memory artist from Sweden. His memory feats are mind-blowing and how does anyone do a Rubiks Cube like that?

The Headliners Theatre Company presented Mr Tickertons Clockwork Circus. It was a world of magic, spectacle and comedy with a grand finale of The Greatest Showman.

Johnny Bourke is a Piano Vocalist from Ireland. Singing songs from rock & roll to pop and funk. His guitar skills just as good as his piano skills and what a range in vocals.

Women in Rock is a 3 girl group singing rock legends work including Cher, Tina Turner and Pink.

We had dinner at one of the speciality restaurants, The Beach House. The food and service were excellent.

On Friday the HORIZON once again announced it was to be a formal/black tie evening.

We met up with new friends in the Spinnaker Bar for pre dinner drinks and after that we had another wonderful 4 course meal, gorgeous food and delicious wine. Sat at a table for 8 followed by a visit to the Palladium Theatre. I am getting used to this life!

Well that was an amazing crossing and we will be in Barbados in the morning.

Wherever you go, go with all your heart

Take care, Carol & Andy
