Well I just thought I would do a post on here as we have been home now for a few weeks and I’m getting itchy feet!! Don’t get me wrong there are some good things about being home! Seeing family and friends is definitely the best. Then there’s washing, ironing, gardening, cleaning, shopping etc etc!!!
Fun with the grandchildren always makes us smile ππ
Our adventure to South East Asia lasted 46 days, travelling through Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand.
When we were preparing for the trip I made list after list of what we needed to take. I whittled it down bit by bit and in the end we managed to fit everything into our rucksacks…… Just!!
We used packing cubes for all our clothes and I would definitely recommend them. Not only for in rucksacks but cases and holdalls too? They keep clothes neat and tidy as well as being space saving. This is a picture of all my packing cubes plus my turquoise toilet bag and shoes. All ready to fit in my rucksack. Andy had the same in his rucksack too.

I think we managed quite well for almost 7 weeks away with that amount of luggage!! We did use our hotels laundry services a few times and they were all very reasonably priced.
We also had a day rucksack each. On each flight Andy had a cabin sized bag that was as usual full of camera gear and I had my day rucksack inside Andy’s day rucksack with the essential travel stuff, passports, tickets, books etc.
We made 10 flights during our visit to South East Asia. Using Vietnam Airlines, Air Asia, Thai Smile, Vietjet and Etihad. We were very lucky as there were no problems or delays at all. Domestic flights were so easy to do and very reasonably priced. The international flights were very comfortable and had plenty of good films on the entertainment system.
We stayed in 14 hotels/Homestay and some were better than others. Every one had clean sheets and clean bathrooms though and they were the necessities for us to stay. Some were excellent and funnily enough they happened to be the cheaper ones!!
It was an amazing adventure that we will never forget and we are now thinking of where to go on our next long haul travels.
Well the caravan is going in for its annual service tomorrow and as soon as it’s back I can start packing it up ready for our next trip to France. I can’t wait!!
I have the usual check lists and piles of things everywhere ready to be put in their places in the caravan.
We will be away for about 7 weeks and are planning to travel around the coast of Brittany. Although we have travelled through France many times it’s an area we haven’t covered before. The scenery looks amazing and we hope the weather is too.
I really miss our caravan life when we are home, so I am happy to say “3 weeks today and we will be off once again.”
I know James (my 25 year old son) can’t wait for us to be gone again too ππ I think we cramp his style ππ
We have a wedding and a few birthdays to celebrate before we go. I can’t believe I will be 60 years old by the time we leave!! ππ
Love the life you live, and live the life you love.
