Nha Trang to Mui Ne

We landed at Cam Ranh airport and transferred to Nha Trang in a minibus. We were staying at The Golden Beach Hotel.

We checked into our room and it was fine and clean. The hotel was looking a little tired around the edges. When visiting Nha Trang it is immediately obvious that the majority of people in the city are Russian followed closely by Chinese. Then Vietnamese and then any English speaking were a minority.
But the beach was lovely πŸ˜€ We found a little beach bar that hired out sun loungers and also had free wifi. Relaxing days on the beach were good.

It’s a huge city though and traffic noise was always there. We had some lovely meals out in the evenings. Theres really not a lot to say about Nha Trang and in hindsight we would maybe only have stayed 2 nights instead of 4. Hey ho that’s how the cookie crumbles.

I had arranged a car and driver to take us to Mui Ne as flying wasn’t an option and we didn’t fancy the night bus. So at 8:30am on 22nd March we set off on our journey. It was going to take about 4 to 5 hours. The car was lovely with good air conditioning. The journey was over in no time and we arrived at Bungalow May in Mui Ne. The place was beautiful and the pool looked so inviting.

The lady at reception was so friendly and we were soon in our poolside room. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. A quick unpack and then chilling by the pool with a dip now and again. Perfect!

We decided to go for a walk before it got dark to see what was around. Down to the beach was our first port of call. All along the shore were fishing boats of different shapes and sizes. Fishermen repairing their nets. Thousands of small fish drying out in the sun. The sun was going down and the view was amazing. How lucky we are!!

We walked back along the beach and through the village ending up back at the entrance to the hotel. There was a lovely looking open food court right next to the hotel. So that was dinner sorted!!
Andy had booked a hot air balloon flight over the famous sand dunes but the company contacted to say it was going to be too windy in the morning and cancelled the flight. Gutted!! So we organised a jeep tour to the sand dunes and we were going to be picked up at 4:30am he following morning!!
Just a wander around the food places and we decided on a whole red snapper to share with steamed rice. It was scrumptious. Now morning was approaching quickly, bedtime! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
The alarm woke us at 4am! Up and dressed and ready to go at 4:30am πŸ˜€
The jeep was waiting and off we went to the white sand dunes for sunrise. It was about a 40 mins bumpy journey. We transferred onto the back of a quad bike to be taken to the top of the dunes. Hold on tight!! It was a crazy ride.

As with most of these tours there were loads of people up there. It takes a little away from the experience but it’s understandable. The quad bike ride back down was even crazier and great fun.
We then drove on to the red sand dunes and these were just there where we parked. People were using pieces of plastic to slide down the dunes, but then you have to walk back up πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Next stop was the fishing village. How many fishing boats? It was just unbelievable. Down at the waters edge the fisherman would bring their catch and it would be emptied on a small tarpaulin on the ground. Women would be sorting through it putting things into different bowls, fish, crabs, shrimps and others I couldn’t identify πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ other people were then going around looking at people’s bowls and buying the contents at ridiculously low prices.

It was on then for a walk down the Fairy Stream. Literally walking in the stream and along the way the sides were made up of red sand and white sand to make a very impressive effect. We met 3 young Vietnamese school girls along the way. They waded through the water to waist height and not a care about their jeans being soaked. Smiling and carefree they enjoyed their Fairy Stream walk.

Back to the jeep and the journey to the hotel. Breakfast was calling. After a lovely breakfast it was time for relaxing by the pool and a catch up snooze or 2!
Later that evening we strolled along the beach once more at sunset and watched a group of Vietnamese teenagers (all boys) putting a fishing net out in the sea using a round boat and then hauling it in. They were so excited but there wasn’t much of a catch πŸ˜‚πŸ˜

Another lovely evening meal and the next morning we just had time for breakfast before our car was here to take us to Ben Tre and Mango Home Riverside Hotel in the Mekong Delta.

The biggest adventure you can ever take is to live the life of your dreams.
