Camping de la Bastide

We arrived at Camping de la Bastide at 4:20pm after driving right through the old town centre towing our caravan!! We did get a few funny looks that’s for sure. The site was beautiful and right on the edge of the River Dordogne. The sun was shining and once we were set up it was time for a cold beer and snacks with our feet up.

The following morning was very relaxed with a late breakfast of croissants, ham, boiled eggs and tomatoes with freshly brewed coffee. We headed off to the Le Clerc Supermarket to do some food shopping, this big new supermarket had me feeling a little giddy πŸ˜‚ So much scrumptious food 😍😍 Then a short trip to Lidl too and we had all we needed.

Back to the campsite to chill in the sun as it was 22 degrees. A cold beer and Andy was listening to his “Learn Spanish” audiobook, although he keeps going back to earlier chapters as he says he’s struggling πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

In the late afternoon we went for a bike ride around the local area, through town, down by the river and back to site.Β Andy took some lovely sunset photographs, the colours are amazing.

We had decided the night before that we would visit Bergerac so after breakfast off we went. It was another gorgeous day, the sun was shining and the temperature was rising. It only took 30 mins to get there and the car park was free πŸ˜€

It was market day and although we didn’t need anything I loved walking along the stalls looking at all the different food.

We then headed to the historic area of the town and down to the river. Andy as usual was clicking away with his camera.

We stopped in a lovely square for a drink, it was so warm and sat there in the sun you would think it was the middle of July not October.

We strolled around town for the afternoon before returning to the caravan for dinner.

The next day was washing day! The bed stripped and everything sorted out for the wash, it was a perfect day for it. Once it was all drying nicely we went on a visit to Chateaux la tour de Chorley, a vineyard run by an English couple and it was amazing. The wine tasting was gorgeous and we purchased a bottle or two. It’s such a small world and it turned out that Andy knew people back in the U.K. that our tour guide also knew.

Back at the caravan we had washing to put away, the awning to take down ready for tomorrow and all this after wine tasting πŸ˜‚πŸ·πŸ˜‚
We have met quite a few British couples all travelling north or south on their own little adventures. One couple, Donna and Peter are also writing a blog “tintent travellers” we are now following each other and who knows, our paths may cross again in the future.
We also met Roman, a young man cycling around France, camping or couch surfing along his way. Such a pleasant chap. πŸ˜€

Moving day again and no awning to take down. After a cuppa we popped to do some food shopping and fill the car with fuel. Then back to the caravan for breakfast, pay the bill and get sorted to leave. The sat nav said the journey would take 4 hours and it was 11:50 as we left.

On Friday 27th October we head to Montgeard. 😍😍
