Off we go!

We are finally on our way. 13:30 on Wednesday 27th September 2017.
Car and caravan packed and ready to roll.
It’s hard to believe I won’t be home for 3 months! Andy will be doing flying visits here and there for work and photography but I won’t return until December.

Just 30mins later than we had planned but we had lots of time. We didn’t sail till 20:15 from Portsmouth to Saint Malo.
Val and Melanie, our next door neighbours were there to see us off and very kindly gave us a card, bottle of wine and some chocolates. Thank you x
We thought we would get to Portsmouth by 18:00 and planned to have a meal before boarding the ferry. The traffic however was horrendous and with detours and lots of rain we didn’t arrive until 18:50. We boarded after passport control and searched car and caravan when the guard was very concerned about my eggs being in a drawer. 😂

The ferry wasn’t very busy at all. Our cabin was easy to find and we dropped our bags then went for dinner and wine. We had a good overnight crossing.

Once off the ferry we were heading for Tuffee and the sat nav is set to avoid the toll roads. Off we set and after a good journey arrived at Camping du lac, Tuffee at 14:20. There was a lovely welcome and beautiful surroundings.
The camera was soon out and Andy was clicking away. Then a bike ride into town to find the bakery for the morning.

The site was so relaxing, after breakfast outdoors, sitting and chatting, relaxing and reading we went for a swim in the lovely pool on site. Heated of course! We had the pool to ourselves.

We visited the nearby town of Bonnetable. I managed to buy 10 stamps at the bureau de poste with my little knowledge of French. The next item was going to be harder, Andy needed a LNB for the satellite as he had left ours at home. How the lady understood what we wanted still amazes me, but we came out of the shop smiling with the LNB in hand.

Once back at the caravan Andy’s makeshift satellite kit was assembled and it actually worked. 😂😂

Our time at Tuffee was very relaxing, we spent time reading, chatting, swimming, walking, eating and drinking. What more could we wish for? It was so quiet and the stars were so bright.
